The Runaway - Harmony
Harmony’s hands were damp as she clasped them together. Her mind was racing; her anxiety teased her patience. She turned to look at the stunning piece of lingerie laid out carefully on her bed. “I cannot do this. This is not me,” she reminded herself.
In all fairness, Harmony had had very little time to think when she made a run for her life and straight into the gates of The Golden Circle. She knew about these people; she’s had to deal with plenty of them. But those were different days. She never had to wear lingerie for a deal, her words and her piercing eyes were all she needed to close a contract. She stared at her luggage at the corner of her room, and then suddenly, in a sense of urgency, got dressed and left the apartment. “I’ll figure this out. I don’t need to do this,” she convinced herself.
But the estate was four hours from civilisation and there was a one in a million chance of her finding a taxi. But Harmony was rushed, desperate. She dragged her luggage to the gate, no one saw her leave, it was the first night for all the girls at TGC and the excitement was palpable. No one would miss her, or so she thought. Wondering what to do as she desperately tried to get a mobile signal to call a taxi, little did she notice a shadow behind the tree, watching her.
“Going somewhere Ms Sandalphon?”
Harmony jumped at the deep voice. She could feel her soul exit her lithe body. “F… AIDEN! Yes. No. I mean, I need to go. I cannot… Please… this, this is not what I do.”
“Oh, we all know what you do, Ms Sandalphon. Or did, rather. Those days are behind you. Don’t forget that once you go back out into the world, the sharks are coming after you. And so is TGC. Now be a good girl and let’s get you dressed. Let’s give the pervs a good time and soon enough, you’ll find that there is no better place than behind these gates. Safer even.
Smoke from Aiden’s cigarette lingered in the air, the lights were so low but even then, she could feel his piercing eyes. “Aiden… Please. I am not an entertainer.”
Relieving her of her luggage and taking her elbow, he nodded, almost pulling her along with him towards the main building, “No Ms Sandalphon, you’re not. You’re much more than that.”
